CeCe Caldwell's Vermont Slate

I picked up this cute foyer/desk/vanity table at an estate sale a few weeks ago. I kept it in my bedroom for several weeks so that I could look at it and decide what color I should paint it. I don't know about you but the hardest part for me is choosing a color! After I finally make that decision everything else falls into place. The first thing that I did I put my drop cloth in the bedroom next to my french doors for good lighting. I placed the desk upside down on top of the drop cloth and begin to paint with Vermont Slate. This is a great color - it's a beautiful dark slate black color that is even prettier after you wax it. After I put two coats of VS on this table I flipped it over to paint the top but after seeing how nice it looks with the original stained top I decided to leave it stained. I really like this look and wow this was SO easy.
I'm going to keep it a little while in my bedroom with the slip covered chair. I can't decide if I "need" it or if I should sell it - I sure do like it.
If you haven't tried the CeCe Caldwell's Chalk and Clay paints and finishes I highly recommend them. They are earth friendly and so easy and fun to use.
God Bless you and have a wonderful week - Nancy

Rodeo is the theme this month for FRESH

Our occasional sale store, "Fresh", changes the front room each month. We have a new theme each month and for April it's Rodeo. Last month it was gardening as you can see in my background photo on my cover page of my blog. We have a room full of cute vintage western fabric, vintage western curtains and a bedspread, wagon wheels, old doors (including a barn door), and many other neat items! I hope you enjoy looking at our "rodeo" room! Have a blessed week.
Here are a few pictures of the store as it is now.

Dry Sink Make Over - My Inspiration a Pottery Barn Cabinet

I love looking through the Pottery Barn catalogues that I receive in the mail almost weekly. They have several painted furniture pieces that I like and I decided to try and "copy" this green cabinet. I would love to see the PB cabinet in person, but the store I visited several weeks ago said that they didn't have it in stock and that most stores didn't have it either. So I took the catalogue picture and studied it for awhile and then decided to jump into the project. CeCe Caldwell's Spring Hill Green, Maine Harbor Blue, Simply White, Mississippi Mud and a touch of Virginia Chestnut is what I decided to use on this dry sink. Dry sinks are hard to find but they are such a neat piece of furniture to use in any home. You could use it as a drink station, a buffet, or it also looks cute in an outdoor kitchen. CeCe Caldwell's chalk and clay paints are so easy and fun to use. I love painting with the paints and I also love the finishes - wax, aging cream, and satin finish. If you are wanting to learn how to use these wonderful paints and finishes stop by and sign up for a Paint Made Easy 101 class at our shop "Fresh" on 403 College Street in Jasper. We will be open Friday, Saturday, and Monday. Have a blessed week!
