Made it to Austin!

I woke up at 5:30 a.m. this morning and watered all my plants and got ready for the road trip to Austin. Fisher, Matt's black lab was so good in the car. I took him to Matt's house and left him with Matt's room mate. Matt was in class so I didn't get to see him yet. I will see him tomorrow. Haley was taking a test and Linsi was at work so I decided to hit the newest Marshall's here in Austin and then I went to TJ Max and then to another Marshall's. I found a few things but not alot this trip. I am going to make my way to Tuesday Morning and Neimans Last Call maybe tomorrow. There is also tons of Goodwill's here and more Marshall's than the two that I went to today. I am going to post one of my bedrooms that I am working on. Now that I don't have any kids at home I am redoing all the bedrooms and decorating them like I want them! This is my sons bedroom and I bought this furniture a couple of years ago from Pottery Barn. I don't like a lot of clutter but I'm not finished with it yet. I have somethings to go on the walls but it takes me awhile to decide how I want it. I bought the quilt from Pottery Barn also a couple of years ago and had it in the master bedroom but decided to change ours out and so I put this in this spare bedroom. The porcelain doll was handmade by a lady in Louisiana several years ago. A dear friend of mine made the little dress for her. It is made out of fabric from a remnant of a dress that my youngest daughter wore. I love porcelain dolls. I have a few more that I need to make clothes for but haven't gotten to that yet. The lamp behind the doll is from Marshall's, the rug from Tuesday Morning, the jar with the seashells was purchased at Marshall's and I put the shells in it. The dress form was bought on my trip to Round Top(I think Haley wants that when she gets her apartment), so that may not get to stay at my house. If you have girls you know how those kind of things go or at least at my house! The smocked dress is one that I did a couple of years ago when I was really into french hand sewing. I have several that I did and kept in hopes of having a granddaughter someday. I smocked Haley tons of dresses and I have all of those too. By the way the Auction was really good last night. I also posted a Spode spoon rest and hot pad. I love both colors!I bought an old washstand for my kitchen for $70.00 and it looked perfect in my kitchen. I've been looking for one for a long time and I finally found one! I also bought a beach chair for the pool for $7.00 and 3 bar stools for Haley. I have a dresser here in Austin that I had purchased from Craigslist and I am going to go look at it later. I"ll post a picture later of that. Well we are getting ready to a place called the "Oasis". It's supposed to be a great place to see the sunset in the Texas skies. I will take my camera and let you see what you think. I'm excited about going somewhere new. Let me know if you have any ideas about the room that I am redoing. This is just one of many rooms that I am going to redecorate so keep posted on the work in progress.

  1. Isn't it fun doing over the kids rooms the way you want them? I like what you've done!
Hope you have a great time in Austin.
